Original U.S. Civil War Harper's Ferry Model 1842 Percussion Rifle Musket with Socket Bayonet Dated 1852 Ancient LEWIS and from the fact LEWIS and from the fact that the small front buttons of the side cap are those of his original Canadian Regiment displaying a Maple Leaf under CANADA Not having seen this before coupled with the knowledge that the MkI had a safety mechanism later removed in 1876 convinces us that this is an exceedingly rare example of an early British Martini Henry rifle with a prototype safety mechanism
